I was praying the morning of June 12, 2016 on the day of the Pulse nightclub shooting. It was the most tragic shooting in Florida history and 49 people died. The Lord took me into a time of prayer and revealed specific prayer strategies. He told me to decree and declare that mass shootings would not manifest.
Later that day—a mile from my house in Santa Monica, California—a man from Indiana was pulled over in a car. He was on his way to the Gay Pride Day festivities to shoot as many people as he could. He had many guns in his car, but his plan was stopped.
The Lord then said to me, “I want you to teach people to do what you do, and we can stop this terrible outburst of fear and terror.”
Fear and terror attack
The enemy is trying to bring fear and terror into the world. He’s not only doing this through things like mass shootings, but even through the internet and how we interact with one another in public.
But there is good news in the midst of this! We can do something to break off this spirit of fear and terror and increase your power and peace.
3 strategies you can use right now
1. Stay on the offense instead of the defense.
Remember that you have authority in God! Ask God to remove the attacks of the enemy, but be careful not to enter into unnecessary battles. Keep your focus on the Lord and remember that you have the high ground.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16b NIV
2. Our battle is not with other people.
It’s important not to spend our time blaming others for what’s wrong in the world. Sometimes we can even get angry with God. The enemy wants to shift your focus from the real issues by getting you distracted.
If you have been angry with God or other people, it may be time to slow down and take a time-out. Ask God to help you focus your eyes back on Him and all the good things He has for you and others!
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
3. There is power in agreement.
You are not in this alone! Reach out to those around you and ask them to join you in powerful, positive, and passionate prayer.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20 NIV
When I got these prayer strategies in June 2016, I was still very sick. I am now 95% healed because of prayer strategies just like the ones I’ve shared with you. I’ve seen storms turn back and major national and international change during my prayer times—and that’s just the beginning!
These strategies are not just for intercessors, but for anyone who has suffered losses and for those who are tired of turning on the news and hearing about yet another tragedy.
It’s time to take back what the enemy has stolen from us. This is not just about prayer— this is war. Will you come with me?
